When planning your outfit for any occasion your suit is always important, but, the right choice of shirt and tie can make all the difference to the overall look.
As you shirt and tie sit directly below the face, they can help draw the eye upwards, particularly if the tie has a pop of colour or pattern!
By using accent colours, if chosen carefully, your shirt and tie can help your whole outfit to co-ordinate creating a seamless look.
For example, our stylish blue '10' jacket (below) has been teamed with a pale pink shirt which echoes the pink pocket square. The flower colours in the tie pick out the blue of the jacket and pink of the shirt.

Plain v Patterned Ties
Plain
Plain ties do add a splash of colour but can sometimes look a little flat, creating a
2-D look, especially if worn with a plain or simple suit. However, they can add an extra pop of colour to your outfit, especially worn against a white shirt and suit of a contrasting colour.
Pattern
A patterned tie can be soft in colour or bright and bold adding impact to your outfit. Flowers or geometrical shapes work well and can help draw attention towards the wearer, particularly if you're the groom!
By using a pattern on your tie you can help introduce several colours rather than just one accent colour. Multiple colour combinations are a great choice if this is your theme and can work really well with dark and pastel colours!

White v Coloured Shirts
White
A white shirt is often the preferred choice when it comes to co-ordinating with your suit. It gives a clean, precise background, highlighting the rest of your outfit well. If a plain white cotton shirt is a little too cold you might want to consider adding texture to it such as our premium quality herringbone shirt.
Coloured
A coloured shirt does add an individual look to your outfit and helps draw attention to the wearer. This option is a good choice for the groom as it does make you stand out from the rest of your groomsmen. It can help emphasise an accent colour and add life to your outfit. A subtle texture can be added to a shirt such as herringbone or dobby pattern. It can be finished off with a tie that picks out your shirt colour to create a very co-ordinated look.
