Top tips for looking good on your wedding day
Your suit is hanging in the wardrobe, you’ve checked everything fits and now the countdown begins… Here we have a few finishing touches to consider before the big day.
Shirts; Most importantly make sure everything is well iron/steamed. A steamy bathroom might be a way to get any slight creases out of your suit. Your shirt should look crisp, starched and form fitting.
Neckwear; Use these step by step guides on how to tie the perfect tie and cravat. Practice before the big day and you can always pre-tie you tie the day before.
Where do you fix your buttonhole? It’s the left lapel for men in line with their pocket square and women should wear theirs on the right-hand side.
Remove the tags; Make sure you have removed all the labels from your suit, unstitched pockets on jackets and waistcoats and remove the tacking stitches on the back vents of the jacket.
Pocket squares; Use our video on the 3 ways you can wear your pocket square. Top tip: pin it in place or use Savvy Stays to keep it in place all day.
Do you need cufflinks? Don’t leave it to the morning of the wedding to look for your cufflinks. Also a great gift idea too for the groom and the groomsmen.
Shoes; if they are new, have you worn them in, if not bring plasters, just in case. If they are that trusty pair, make sure they are clean and polished.
The last detail of your outfit to think about is your socks. Do you want the groom and the groomsmen all to match or can a little flash of personality be shown? Whether you are wearing an Oxford type shoe or a loafer, we say, keep it timeless, lightweight, natural fibres and not white.
Chimney Menswear wishes you all the best on your magical day. Congratulations and Best Wishes to you all.
