Hire or buy for your big day – the pros and cons

Weddings are all about choices; from venue to colour scheme, and flowers to cake. And for a groom, there is a further decision to make – do you buy or rent your wedding day suit? There isn’t a right or wrong answer, and your own circumstances and preferences will guide you to make a decision.

But here at Chimney Formal Menswear, we can certainly help by providing you with the pros and cons of buying and hiring, so you are armed with all the information you need to make the right decision for you.

Pros and cons of buying

· Pro: You get to keep your wedding day suit. It is a special memento of your big day, and you will be able to wear it again.

· Pro: By owning the suit, it becomes more cost effective over time with the more special occasions and big events it’s worn to.

· Con: The initial outlay is bigger. Weddings can be expensive and sometimes it may be that the least expensive option is the best thing for you.

· Pro: Less expensive option: . If you’re on a tight budget and buying that great suit you’ve fallen in love with is not an option, hiring is the perfect solution.

· Pro: With hiring, there is more flexibility to change sizes, even as close as a few weeks before the wedding. .

· Pro: If you feel that a tailcoat is the appropriate choice for your event, but you know it is unlikely to be worn again, hiring would be the best option.
