As we enter tuxedo season, let’s explore the many styles of bow tie
and how and when to wear them.

Ready Tied satin bow - Let’s start with the basic black ready tied bow tie. A simple neat bow, when ease and elegance is required without too much of a statement.

Self-tie bow tie - These are often seen as quite daunting to tie, but once mastered it will become second nature. Please see our guide to tying a bow tie here: https://youtu.be/R5ZroIyztaU?si=LfmgJv1FemFxu72O
Once tied, they give a fullness to the bow and are perfect for an elegant yet relaxed after dinner look.

Bat wing bow tie - Would you like something a little more dramatic? Then what about a Bat wing bow tie? Here the lower part of the bow is larger than the upper part and helps to make more of a statement. Perfect if you are the groom and want to stand out at your black tie wedding.

Tulip Bow Tie – The tulip bow tie is the peak of elegance. It comes ready tied but has the look of a self-tie bow. Often referred to as the Spectre bow tie thanks to James Bond looking very stylish wearing one in the film. It is the epitome of style and will turn heads at the smartest of parties or award ceremonies. It's also perfect for the groom on his special day too!

Coloured bow ties – Our customers often ask if coloured bow ties are acceptable. Coloured bow ties come in standard and bat wing styles and are also available in satin or velvet.
Use these bow ties to link to your partner’s dress colour or accessories. They can also look amazing for the wedding party, helping to tie-in with the bridesmaid’s dresses or the groom’s velvet tuxedo jacket.

Throughout October we are thanking our customers for their support over the last 10 years by offering a free shirt and satin bow tie with every purchase of a tuxedo jacket and trousers. Don’t miss out!
